Reporting to the Creative Services Manager, with responsibilities to Web & Interactive and Information Systems, the User Experience Designer is responsible for creating interaction design and navigation flows for mobile, web and rich internet application that enhances the user experience, and strengthens the Marshfield Clinic brand. This highly creative, organized and self-motivated individual will have exceptional interaction design, web and mobile design skills. Besides possessing strong communication skills, the User Experience Designer must flourish in a fast-paced, agile, and deadline-driven environment.

Requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in interaction design, information design, human computer interaction, new media or multi-media design, and 3-6 years of interaction design experience for web and or mobile platforms. Strong knowledge of UI design processes and methodologies applied to Web-based applications and mobile. Expert with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash/Silverlight, Microsoft Office and other appropriate software tools. Expertise in the use of prototyping tools like Balsamiq and Axure. Intimate knowledge of HTML 5 and CSS3; strong understanding of Internet technologies. Experience successfully leading large- and small-scale design initiatives in a team setting. Understanding of usability guidelines; design experience related to accessibility and usability issues and trends. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

We're looking for a top-notch Senior User Experience Researcher in Eagan, MN to help us evaluate desktop and mobile applications for professionals in the legal industry.

Key Responsibilities
Working in an open office environment, in tandem with a team of UX Researchers, the person in this dedicated role will work closely with Information Architects, Visual Designers, CSS Developers, Product Developers, and Technology teams. Research projects will take place across the U.S. in customer’s offices and research labs. This position requires being able to travel 25% of the time. The candidate should be equally comfortable in both the role of usability evaluation facilitator as well as observer.

This is not a designer role; it is a role focusing on qualitative usability research. However, experience with interaction design principles, tools, and techniques is important both for communication with the internal team and articulating issues to stakeholders.

Job Description
The Usability Specialist will work independently with the business client, project teams, and development staff and are responsible for the execution of usability analysis, design, and development of system mobile user interfaces and graphics as well as development and maintenance of user interface architecture, style guides, and design patterns.

Major Duties:

  1. Work with project teams to identify and define interaction and usability requirements for the user experience; and, working with business clients to ensure that the user interface meets the clients’ requirements during all phases of the project.
  2. Work directly with developers, customers, stakeholders and users to develop strategies and specifications to create/improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of mobile applications.
  3. Analyze a project’s needs and ensure the performance of the relevant user research activities (e.g. writing research and test protocols and questionnaires, conducting primary user research, user profiling, web analytics, and usability testing) that will result in consistent user interface designs for internal customer applications and websites that meet business requirements – striking a balance between creative design and analytical thinking.
  4. Development and maintenance of user interface architectures, design patterns and style guides for user interfaces.
