Senior User Researcher
Wells Fargo
San Francisco, CA

Posted on: 25 February 2013

Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to join the Digital Channels Group (DCG) Customer Insights team. DCG is the driving creative and technical force behind Wellsfargo.com and helps customers realize their financial needs by delivering the world's most innovative e-banking and e-commerce services, capabilities and alliances.

**This role is based in San Francisco, CA only**

Wells Fargo is seeking a senior-level user research specialist with expertise in a broad range of qualitative user research methods including usability testing. The Senior User Researcher will join an established bi-coastal research practice with offices in San Francisco and Charlotte, NC. The researcher will partner closely with the Customer Experience design team, internal business clients, research peers and vendors. While the primary focus of our practice is usability testing for web and mobile, we provide a range of research offerings including an ongoing Listening Lab program, heuristic evaluations, and ethnographic field studies.

There are two primary areas of responsibilities for this role noted below; these responsibilities require a combination of applying research expertise directly as well as management/oversight of vendor-executed studies.

(1) Leading/managing research studies in collaboration with our trusted research partners (vendors)
The senior researcher will act as an internal consultant to our business partners to define research goals, outline the study scope, and identify requirements for research materials (prototypes, etc.). In this consultant role, the researcher will engage with one of our trusted research vendors to plan and execute the research (the vendor would be responsible for all deliverables, including screener, discussion guide, moderation, and final report). This should not be confused for an outsourcing model where the work is passed off to a vendor, but rather this is a close collaboration and partnership between the internal senior researcher/consultant and research vendor from project start to end.

(2) Leading/executing Listening Lab studies

The second primary responsibility includes leading and executing small-scale studies as part of our Listening Lab program. This is a more traditional role in which the researcher partners with business clients and customer experience team and executes all aspects of research, providing early directional input to product and design concepts. As a Listening Lab moderator, the researcher will oversee recruiting, define/design the research methodology, moderate the study, analyze data, make recommendations, and effectively communicate findings to a broad audience of stakeholders. The senior user researcher would be one of several moderators who provide Listening Lab services for our business partners.

Basic Qualifications:

Director of Client Solutions
AnswerLab
Hunter, NY

Posted on: 02 February 2013

AnswerLab delivers trusted customer insights that help the world’s leading brands build outstanding digital products and services.  We focus exclusively on user experience research to understand what people see, do, think and feel when using websites, mobile applications, and other digital products.  AnswerLab’s clients depend on our recommendations about product concepts, features, design and messaging to create more engaging customer experiences that drive results.  Global market leaders select AnswerLab as their user experience research partner, including Amazon.com, PayPal, Walmart, Honda, ING DIRECT, ESPN, FedEx, Genentech, eBay, Salesforce.com, Amgen, Intuit and Harley Davidson.

AnswerLab, named in the 5000 List of Fastest Growing Privately-Held Companies four years in a row and recently named by Fortune to the 2012 Great Place to Work Best Small & Medium Workplaces List, has an amazing opportunity for a fearless and deeply networked business development executive, who at the very core, will be driven, committed and laser-focused on growing our new Manhattan, NY office.

This position is a critical senior level business development role.  As such, this individual will report directly to the CEO & Co-Founder of the company and will be a member of the management team, making significant contributions to the success and direction of the company.

As the new Director of Client Solutions for AnswerLab, your primary mission will be to introduce AnswerLab to Fortune 1000 East Coast business leaders, and demonstrate practically how our customized user experience research solutions help solve complex business issues. Your years of experience selling highly intangible and customizable solutions to Fortune 1000 businesses will be invaluable as every single research project we carry out is unique: our research methods include online customer experience evaluations (survey & web behavioral analysis), one-on-one website usability sessions (interviews), focus groups and mobile/iPhone studies.

Because you enjoy "classic" business development activities, you'll have no problem developing new business from an assigned target list of accounts along with your own rolodex, and then expanding those relationships to gain a larger share of the customer’s potential.  You'll also leverage your analytical mind and your propensity for research-driven decision-making to quickly come up to speed on our service offerings, then spend the majority of your time prospecting, setting meetings and making sales presentations. During the sales process, you will have the support of Research Directors and Managers to structure the technical details of your proposals.

Perhaps the most critical skill you will bring to the table is a consultative approach -- research, preparation, thoughtful & probing questioning, along with interpersonal savvy.

Our fast-moving environment creates a bias for smart individuals who are able to think on their feet, deal with conceptual thinking, and who can match ideas with managers and executives at some of the leading companies in the world.

The ideal candidate will meet most of the criteria listed below:

Why work at AnswerLab?

Our New York office is in the Flatiron district at 15 West 26th Street, walking distance to major subway lines, restaurants and more!
