Imagine if one day in November, thousands of people around the world stop to examine how they use transportation and what impact it has on the environment today. And imagine that day changes the behavior of thousands of people worldwide and improves our environment and our energy usage.

World Usability Day 2008 on November 13, 2008 marked the launch of the Global Transport Challenge. The Challenge was designed to provide a vehicle for anyone anywhere with internet access to participate in World Usability Day as well as learn how they use transportation and the impact it has on the environment.

The Global Transportation Challenge will be available on an ongoing basis.

Using the Transportation Challenge

In a few easy steps, you can measure your everyday transportation usage; monitor your personal travel carbon footprint and compare your results with those of others around the world; and minimize your energy usage through alternative transportation choices, carbon offsets, and simple travel changes.

Brian Sullivan, the 2008 World Usability Day Theme Chair, said, "The transportation challenges of today will greatly impact the future design of airplanes, cars, hotels, roads, cities, the environment, and more. We are starting to see consumers change their travel behavior-switching to smaller cars, carpooling to work, combining errands, and more. The Global Transport Challenge gives consumers a way to measure their current travel choices, so they can manage their future travels."

Take the Challenge!

By taking the Global Transport Challenge you will be actively making a difference in your life and in the lives of others. The information you will receive will help you make simple changes in the way you travel that will save energy, and have lasting impact on you, your community, and the world. You can go back and monitor your behavior as you continue to make changes. It's fun, it's easy, it's important! Take the Global Transport Challenge today!

Take the Global Transport Challenge. Measure. Monitor. Minimize. Making Lower Carbon Travel Changes Easy!
