Update on the status of the Common Industry Format (CIF)

NIST Industry Usability Reporting (IUSR) project

The Industry Usability Reporting (IUSR) project and the Common Industry Format (CIF) had been moving slowly, but is now refocusing and planning more activities:

• NIST is pleased to announce that Mary Theofanos (formerly from NCI and the usability.gov project) has joined the staff and will be taking the lead on the NIST CIF efforts.
• We have begun the submission process for the CIF for Usability Test Reports to the US TAG SC7, the first step in ISO approval as an international standard.
• The CIF-R, CIF for requirements is in draft form and we will be calling for comments on the draft and participation in pilot studies shortly.  

The website will be revised to reflect these and other new developments. At that point we will publicize the updates on this and other listservs. If you are on our email list, you will be hearing more soon. If you wish to join, go to http://www.nist.gov/iusr and join the iusr project. We look forward to hearing from you in order to pursue new initiatives to expand the CIF.
